[Read.Pf4A] Recipes for a Broken Heart The tender stories of the broken-hearted and the comfort foods that soothed their pain

Recipes for a Broken Heart is a collection of true, tender, sad, funny, heart-breaking stories of people who have lived through the worst pain of all-- a broken heart. And the comfort foods that helped them though their painful ordeal. These stories are from brave generous people who have known and survived the sting and grief of heartache. The process of shared heartache is very cathartic. These people are living proof that we continue despite it all, even if we sustain some battle wounds along the way. Everyone has experienced some form of heartbreak. Mild versions can include not getting asked to a dance or a party. More severe heartbreak could inclulde losing a job or the more devastating loss of a pet to the pure agony of the death of a parent, child, spouse or other loved one. And somewhere within the broad spectrum of broken hearts lies unreciprocated love—when the person you love does not love you in return. Personally I would rather have a root canal or break a few bones than experience heartbreak again. There is medication to physical pain and usually it will resolve within a few weeks. A broken heart can stay with you for months, years or a lifetime. As a society we share collectivity in happy emotions and occasions but often run and hide with sadness. Why It is part of the ebb and flow of life. Although I’m sure we all wish we could skip over the unhappy times, I’m hoping this book will help you realize that you do not suffer alone. We all know the misery of heartache. I encourage you to share in our heartaches and comfort foods. We do not and should not always have to cry alone. Warning! None of these recipes are gluten free or sugar free or any other kind of free—my heart is breaking! So I don’t care about antioxidants. Currently, I’m trying not to lose my marbles every breathing moment. When your heart is breaking you need food to give you a nice big hug and tell you it’s all going to be okay. Rice cakes and kale will never give you the love a brownie sundae will supply. Yes the love is fleeting, but a few minutes of joy when everything else truly sucks is sometimes enough to get you through to the next day. Food is love. Comfort foods are not bad. Use them as a crutch when you need the support. It’s healthier than medication, mental intuitions of other very destructive behaviors. And in time as we heal we will be able to step away from the baked Brie. But until then I hope these stories and recipes will give you a tiny bit of solace as you struggle through the bleakness of life without your love. I don’t really want to “celebrate” sadness, but maybe we could acknowledge it and provide a format for these very real life events to be noted as part of our human experience. Wouldn’t it be healthier to have a heartbreak party from time to time Everyone must wear black and come prepared to share their biggest heartbreak story—and of course their comfort food of choice. I bet healthier healing would happen with the loving support of a few friends. It’s just an idea, but I think it’s a good one.
